Question:
Why is Biblical counseling not covered by my health insurance or Medicaid?
Answer:
Insurance covers traditional therapies and programs where the counselor or therapist has a degree and training in psychology. Treatment is governed by the rules of the residing state; what is mandatory and necessary for the person in treatment is based on state guidelines.
Psychology seeks to descrbe, explain, predict, and change human behavior.
Biblical Counseling helps people find healing, forgiveness, and salvation through the application of scripture.
Question:
How many sessions will I need?
Answer:
There is no rule for how many sessions a counselee will need to accomplish their goals. We will work together to determine your goals for counseling then work toward these goals while pursuing the Lord, His help, and His leadership in your life.
Some people find help and healing relatively quickly and are able to begin to navigate their lives well. They progress to needing fewer sessions, then graduate in a short time. Others will benefit from long-term help and counsel. We will work together to determine what will be the most effective process for you.
